The Voice for KY Clinical Social Workers
Our board is composed of a variety of clinical social workers. Though most of them currently reside in the Lexington area, we hope to elect board members from across Kentucky in future elections.
Susanna is comparatively new to the Bluegrass area and the Kentucky Society. Having trained in the Southeast and practiced mostly in the Northwest, she and her family appreciate the central location and natural beauty of Kentucky. She is committed to continuing the numerous gains in clinical social work practice achieved by past and current Kentucky Society members. Susanna is honored to serve as the first Executive Director for the Society.
Joanna has served on the board for three years. Her expertise is in child and family counseling. She has worked for the Bluegrass Regional Mental Health/Mental Retardation board for twelve years in various clinical positions throughout central Kentucky. She is now Program Director of the Child and Family Wellness Center. Joanna envisions the KSCSW with an active membership in advancing the Society’s mission of promoting the practice of clinical social work.
Lisa has 20 years of experience working with adolescents and their families. She is currently the acting Program Administrator and Clinical Services Manager at the Lexington Day Treatment Center.
Sally joined as a student 37 years ago and has served on the board in a variety of offices including two terms as the President. She is currently the board Legislative Chairperson. She maintains a rewarding private psychotherapy practice educating and guiding children, adolescents, and adults through the process of healing. Sally also maintains a consultation practice.
Edwin is semi-retired from community mental health yet still provides supervision and training. He likes group work and teaching and is a strong advocate for social work professionals entering the field. He has served on the board in various capacities for about 20 years including President from 1999 to 2002. Edwin recently received the KSCSW lifetime achievement award.
Marcia received her MSSW from the University of Louisville and has worked in the social work field since the late 70’s at the State Hospital, Charter Ridge Hospital, and Comprehensive Care Center where she is currently practicing. Her area of practice is with children, adolescents, and families. Marcia has been on the KSCSW board for three years and currently serves as our Membership committee chair.
Jennifer has been with the KSCSW board for 3 years and has supported the Society for many years. Her practice focus has been in the non-profit sector working with pregnant and parenting teens. Jennifer is currently the Program Director/Therapist at the Florence Crittendon Home.
Candice is serving in her second year as an at-large member of the board. She received her MSW from the University of Kentucky in 2007 and is currently a research assistant at UK’s Center for the Study of Violence Against Children, where she also serves in a clinical role with the Comprehensive Assessment and Training Services Project (CATS). A Kentucky native, she also has experience in community mental health, advocacy, and journalism.
Karen recently graduated from UK with an MSW and Certification in School Social Work. She is newly employeed at the Child and Family Wellness Center for the Bluegrass Regional MH/MR Board. She is interested in Equine Assisted Psychopathology and founded a non-profit program utilizing horses with at-risk youth.
Beth is currently the Director of Impact Plus at KVC/Croney and Clark. She worked for 8 years for Bluegrass Regional MH/MR Board, Inc. 5 of those years she served as Teen POP Program Director. Beth graduated from the University College of Social Work in 2001. Beth has been a member of KSCSW since 2007.
Laura Best, MSW, LCSW, has been working in the Lexington area for over 10 years. She is currently working in private practice with families,
children, individuals, and couples. Laura has previously worked for
BGRMH-MR Bd., Inc as well as LFUCG. She has recently accepted the role of secretary.
